Frozen is Pretty Cool

Time and again we are not disappointed as we head to the theatre on opening nights (afternoons) and munch on our popcorn frantically wondering what will happen to Wreck-it-Ralph (along with all of the extremely cultured 8 year olds).
Some films live on for years…Have you realized that Rapunzel came out 4 years ago!? Yet, it is still pretty hyped. Others leave us a bit less intrigued…seriously, if they had thrown a few songs in and well….not turned the mother into a bear, Brave could have been great…so many possibilities! It’s ok though....some people liked it, apparently.
Now, Frozen has come out and there is a lot of talk out there…you know…on the playgrounds and schoolbuses...and yes, even on the college campuses. “Is Frozen better than Tangled!?” It’s the question of the hour…the day…maybe the year! Doubtful. But we’re only 9 days in so it still seems like a big deal;)
Honestly, I am not here to tell you that you’re wrong in whatever you decide. I am merely here to show you why Frozen is one of the most relatable films to date.

*Spoilers included*

1.They quote tv shows, just like you and me! (This is from Arrested development if you were unsure)

2. Speaking of that song….Brilliant. In movies the bad guy so often sings their evil plot to the world or just explains it step by step to the super hero tied up (who we know is about to get free, how convenient). This villain is real; clever and manipulative. You know the type.

3.Speaking of hurt little children….Elsa. (Did you know she was originally going to be the villain?) Then they wrote “Let it Go” and realized that she was merely a vulnerable woman who had been misguided by parental love and fear. If you don’t relate to that…kudos to your perfect life. For the rest of us…who hasn’t brushed their hands through their hair in confusion and frustration? We’re just lucky that we don’t have ice shoot out of us when we don’t know how to control our emotions.

4.When you’re not brushing your fingers through your hair…well, sometimes it gets a little unruly… Princess Anna knows all about that…unlike every other Disney princess, ever. Even Rapunzel with her miles of hair never seemed to have an issue...

5. Kristoff is a bit worried about introducing Anna to his big, loud family. As much as we love them….and we really do…we do tend to give warnings before we bring any friends around….for their sake, really!

6.Your best friend probably says the most ridiculous and life threatening ideas (summer) but they will help you talk yourself out of almost every situation and sacrifice most anything for you…because they’re just that cool…see what I did there;)

7. Lastly (since we've reached the number of completion)…let’s state the obvious. They stayed clear of too much of the lovey dovey stuff. PTLG! Seriously, as if we don’t already get enough of that from Chick Flicks, cartoons are constantly all about romance. It’s sweet and all, but wasn't it nice to see the true love act be an act for family. That same family who accidentally misguided you into fear and insecurity and are really loud and slightly overbearing when you bring guests…..Yep, that very same family that you would risk your life for! Maybe you won’t unfreeze this winter in the process, but hey, let em know…cause big sisters (and little ones…even brothers I guess) are pretty awesome!

A heart-warming film for the whole family:0)
