When I was growing up and one of my siblings or I were acting out of hunger, out of line, or out of character we generally got the same response. My father would smile at us, shake his head, and say, "It's only a phase!" This was often followed by, "Don't worry; you'll grow out of it." If said, you knew at once that there would be no change made towards whatever it is you were asking for or complaining about. It soon became a family joke that we would say to one another if someone was being annoying, awkward, too loud in public, or the like.
It was particularly said to me on many occasions concerning being loud in public. I'm afraid I haven't quite grown out of that one yet, but that's quiet beside the point. (Pun definitely intended). Speaking of things that are quite beside the point....I have realized that this intro doesn't have much to do with the rest of this post. I am going to keep it anyway. If that bothers you then don't worry; you'll grow out of it.
We go through many phases in life. Some never seem to end and some have a very specific amount of time allotted to them. For instance, the lecture phase of the Discipleship Training School (DTS) I am currently staffing as part of the ministry, Youth With A Mission (YWAM). Look at that, I tied it in after all!
The entire school is five months; three months lecture phase and two months of outreach. We are just about 2/3 of the way through the lecture phase-I think someone must have thrown a clock out the window cause time is flying. Literally so much has happened and this post is simply a means of showing photographic evidence of that claim. After all, it is said, "Pics or it didn't happen."
